I’m Madi, an EMDR therapist & social worker
When I first heard about EMDR Therapy, I thought it was ridiculous. It sounded so weird, and I was very skeptical. I tried it because I had heard so many great things about how effective it was for a variety of different symptoms.
After experiencing EMDR myself, my entire perspective changed. I was so glad that I tried despite my skepticism, because EMDR changed the way that I do therapy for good because worked so well. The symptoms I had chosen to work with were completely gone. I was shocked. I want to bring you the healing powers of EMDR Therapy and help you tap into your brain’s natural system of healing where you can access your authentic Self.
Our emotions hold critical information that we need and are constantly trying to communicate this information with us. We are often unable to receive or interpret that information. When you can unlock this information, you gain significant insight into yourself and can experience tons of benefits. I would love to help you unlock this information, master your emotions, and process past distress or trauma so that you experience mental clarity and wellness.
I work from a perspective of social justice, intersectionality, & antiracism.
I acknowledge the impact of white supremacist culture, historical trauma, intergenerational trauma and racial trauma on mental, physical, and emotional health. I strive to continually develop, deepen and expand my knowledge, understanding, awareness, and skills surrounding racial and ethnocultural influences across the lifespan outside of the therapy space in order to provide a safe, healing, inclusive and supportive space for all of my clients in therapy. I am dedicated to expanding my awareness of my own positionality in relation to ethnicity and race and to continually question, understand, and oppose racism.
I view each client as a unique person embedded in their community, family, and environment. I am curious about your individual experience and will focus on your responses, thoughts, emotions, sensations, beliefs surrounding your experiences in our work together. I view my clients as the experts in their own lives and lived experiences, and show up with genuine curiosity, authenticity and transparency.
